Grab your snacks and get your playlists ready, we’re going on a road trip!

Whether you've got a three-day weekend coming up that you want to take advantage of or you're looking for a getaway from Menlo Park, we have some suggestions to make the most of your weekend trip.

1. Half Moon Bay

This iconic California destination has tons to offer those visiting for a day trip or weekend getaway. Half Moon Bay is a watersports mecca with kayaking, surf lessons, and boat trips all offered here.


2. Muir Woods

One of the last remaining redwood forests in the San Francisco Bay area these woods will transport you to another world. Take in the enormity of the redwoods and enjoy a peaceful hike for a day.


3. Santa Cruz, CA

Stretching into Monterey Bay, this coastal city is perfect to enjoy the beautiful California weather. Enjoy the rides on the boardwalk and go vintage shopping along Pacific Avenue. Don’t forget to check out the Natural Bridge State Beach while you’re here!


4. Yosemite National Park

While Yosemite is a little further from Menlo Park than the other destinations on the list, we wanted to make sure we included it! A beautiful glacial valley is known best for its waterfalls, you’ll have plenty to explore and enjoy while you’re here taking in the beauty of nature.

"Spent a glorious #TastemakerWeekend getting to know (or know better) some of the people who make #HealdsburgCA such a great place to visit. In addition to staying in fabulous digs like the ones @Duchamp_Healdsburg, I participated in events that included pastry-baking and cocktail-making classes, a session about Yucatán-influenced cuisine (followed by a fabulous lunch), and mushroom foraging (followed by a fabulous lunch). By the end of the weekend, I was talking real estate with the local participants! . . . . . . I'm on a tight writing deadline so more on all the above in the coming days, but for now here's the Russian River view that was the visual pièce de résistance of our @relishculinary mushroom foray at #HealdsburgRidgeOpenSpacePreserve. . . . There's a culinary connection here, too, by the way. The greenhouse in the pic's lower center and the surrounding few acres are where Katina Connaughton cultivates many of the ingredients in the dishes prepared by husband Kyle Connaughton @SingleThreadFarms restaurant, #SonomaCounty's first three-star Michelin dining establishment. . . . I cover as much of Healdsburg as I can possibly fit into @FodorsTravel's Napa / #Sonoma guide. One purpose of the #Tastemakers events was to get the word out to travelers near and far that #Healdsburg and Sonoma County are doing just fine despite the recent fires, which though devastating took place mostly away from wineries, restaurants, hotels, and other palaces of pleasure.
